Mission Oflameron Synopsis

Новая миссия на Oflameron уже стартовала, когда Центральное Командование получило данные о многочисленных переходах Jett в виртуальность и обратно. У лазера был поврежден и не функционировал один из двух контуров охлаждения стрельбового комплекса, накопительные конденсаторы превысили все сроки эксплуатации, остаточная эффективность топлива в ядерном реакторе приближалась к 15 процентам. Всё это не позволяло выполнить выстрел на максимальной мощности. Лазер спешно протестировали, загрузили новое программное обеспечение, сняли запрет на overboost реакторной зоны. С последствиями радиационной аварии не считались. Резервная протонная пушка, которую по приказу Центрального Командования срочно начали готовить к переходу на орбиту Oflameron, могла прибыть в район назначения не раньше, чем через двое суток. A new mission on Oflameron was already underway when Central Command received data indicating that Jett had made multiple transitions between the physical world and the virtual realm. Command now grew deeply concerned that Jett might pass through a "Transition Point" and vanish into the Virtual Field entirely. An urgent order was issued to restore an ultra-powerful emergency X-ray laser orbiting the planet - the only offensive asset Command had available in the mission sector. One of the two cooling circuits for the laser’s firing assembly was damaged and non-functional; the storage capacitors had long since exceeded their operational lifespan; and the remaining fuel efficiency in the nuclear reactor had dropped to nearly 15 percent. Consequently, firing the laser at maximum power was impossible. The system was hastily tested, updated with new software, and had its safety restrictions on reactor overboost removed, with no regard for the potential consequences of a radiation disaster. A backup proton cannon, which Central Command had ordered to be prepared for deployment to Oflameron’s orbit, would take at least two days to reach the destination. Under these circumstances, Jett, accompanied by a team of robots, began his third mission to the planet’s surface. There was no time for testing, situational analysis, or surface reconnaissance; he could not afford to delay, as time was now working against him.
